eMate 300
The eMate 300 is a personal digital assistant designed, manufactured and sold by Apple Computer to the education market as a low-cost laptop running the Newton operating system. It was the only Apple Newton Device with a built-in keyboard. The eMate was discontinued because Apple phased out the entire Newton platform to focus on the Macintosh line. Poor sales were also a major factor, as the eMate's $799 price tag was considered too expensive for its target market of educational institutions with tight budgets

The eMate 300 laptops were originally planned to be made in Green, Clear, Pink, Purple, & Orange colors. Only the dark green eMates made it into production. Allegedly only 6 of the clear case prototypes were ever made. After they were no longer needed, they were awarded to those involved with the eMate project
